Two years ago, just after I had recovered from Covid, I started to have problems with walking  balance especially when visibilty was poor. Then I developed a slight tremor in my right hand.

A vsit to the neurologist confirmed what my GP and daughter suspected for a while even as I was in denial. I had early stage Parkinson's.

Now I am a neuro and paediatric physiotherapist with a strong background in motor control and learning and was not going to sit back and let things unfold. There is ample evidence that exercise can slow down and even halt the expected progression of symptomes. It seems that the type of exercise is not important as long as it is intense enough to challenge the movement brain to produce changes in the brain - referred to as neural plastiscity.

So I looked at different online programs on offer. The PD Warrior seemed to a good option  so I started to work on the free basic set of activities on their website and mastered them quite quickly.

Now as a physiotherapist I have followed a task oriented approach to training motor skills. The basic mantra is that training is task specific. You learn and improve what you practice. In therapy this translates into identfy the tasks that need improving and then starting with the easises version of the task and then progressively increase task difficulty and complexity.
